New business loan providers 'targeting firms'...

Business owners and property investors are turning to bridging loans as mainstream lenders tighten their criteria, it has been claimed.

According to Bridging Finance Limited, several new business loans providers had entered the market to meet the demand from businesses and investors.

However, the firm believes it is too early to say whether these new lenders are fully committed to the bridging loans market.

"Their capacity to lend is unproven," said Chris Baguley, managing director of Bridging Finance Limited.

He added: "My understanding is that providers of residential bridges are also seeing an increase in demand due to conditions in the residential property market."

Despite the focus on the business world, Bridgingloans.com estimates that almost nine in ten bridging loans are related to residential property.
